The village was shocked to learn of Jamie’s sudden death at the age of 16. A large crowd gathered at Bangor Crematorium for his funeral. Last week some of his friends climbed Ceiri mountain to scatter his ashes. Deepest condolences to his family.

Merched y Wawr
The local branch celebrated their 40th anniversary, some past members were welcomed to the celebration together with three officials from the movement namely Mrs Christine Jones, the area president, Mrs Ffreda Williams, the development officer and Mrs Meryl Davies, the national vice president.
Everybody was welcomed to the celebration by Mrs Lynda Cox, the branch president. Logsgows and pudding had been prepared by the members and the celebration cake was cut by Mrs Sali Evans the only one who has been a member since the begining. Entertainment was provided by members of Llangybi Young Farmers and it was a pleasure to see so many talented young people give such polished performances. They were thanked by Mrs Valerie Massey.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday the 10th April when Mrs Dawn Thomas, Mantell Gwynedd will talk about the Friends Scheme. A warm welcome to anyone at the community centre.

At the first meeting of the new year Mrs Beti Jones, Pontllyfni brought some of her work to show the members. Beti is well known throughout the area for her fine needlework, she was welcomed and thanked by the president, Lynda Cox. Making the tea were Gillian Barrett and Lilian Hughes, the raffle was won by Annwen Jones. The next meeting will be on 6th February when Iwan Hughes, Llanbedrog will talk about Glyn y Weddw Hall.
In March the members will be celebrating the branch’s 40th birthday.

Some important news.

Bishop Andrew is pleased to announce that the Rev’d Lloyd Jones has been appointed as the Vicar of Beuno Sant Uwch Gwyrfai Ministry Area (which is the area around Clynnog, Llanaelhaearn, Penygroes and Llanwnda / Llandwrog).

Lloyd will finish in Felinheli (Port Dinorwic) on Easter Day, before he and the family move to live in Clynnog.

Lloyd will be taking a sabbatical before his induction on Thursday 11 July, at 7pm in St. Beuno’s Church, Clynnog.

Christmas Eve Service

The church’s singing group sang carols while the congregation arrived, the organist was Sianelen Pleming. Taking part in the service were Mike Atkin, Bethan Jones Parry, Lynda Cox and Christine Jenkins. Emrys Williams helped with communion. The sidesmen were Ceri Williams and James Evans. The candle ceremony was arranged by Rose Williams. The service was taken by Canon Peter James.

Bonus Ball

The December winners were:- Carys Humphreys, Lilian Hughes, Carys Roberts, Paul and Beti Hughes.

Service

The Babell Chapel Christmas service was held in the community centre on Sunday afternoon, 23rd December. Taking part were Martha Nel, Owi, Cadi, Llyr, Elin and Einir. After the service everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and a mince pie.

Christingle

This lovely service took place on Sunday morning 23rd December, it was taken and arranged by Canon Peter James.Lighting the Advent candles were:- Martha Nel, Iago Hedd, Cari and Llyr Humphreys, Alys and Enlli Atkin and Monti and Leila Parry Ellis. The readers were Lisbeth James and Megan Jenkins. Llinos Pritchard sang a carol. The sidesmen were Ifan Pritchard and Ellis Williams. Members of Llithfaen Sunday School were present. and the organist was Sianelen Pleming. The ladies were thanked for preparing the Christingles.

Aelwyd Gwrtheyrn

Due to illness the annual Christmas service had to be cancelled.

School Service

The school’s Christmas service took place in the church on Sunday 16th December. The church was full of parents/friends of the school and everyone enjoyed the service. Thanks to the teachers, helpers and of course the pupils for all their hard work.

Recovery

Gethin Price has returned home after his stay in hospital both in Stoke on Trent and Bangor. Gethin was injured while playing rugby.

Bonus Ball

The November winners were, Ken Allen, Alan Davies, Sydna Ellis and Janice Allen. All from Llanaelhaearn.

Ken Roberts, 1 Car Llyn celebrated a special birthday recently.

Success

Congratulations to Llinos Pritchard, Llechdara Uchaf on winning the Evelyn and Alwyn Cup at the Dyffryn Nantlle School Eisteddfod. Llinos was judged to be the most promising pupil at the eisteddfod. Llinos will be celebrating her 18th birthday during the Christmas Holidays.

Lucky Date

The winner of the turkey was Ms Fallon Williams, Cwm Farm, Clynnog Fawr. A profit of £150 was made towards the community centre some of which will be used to buy an i pod docking station/CD player. Thanks to Einir Ellis for making the arrangements.

Accident
In the next few days Joanne will be coming round the village to collect donations to help Wyn and Cheryl Price with travelling costs ect following Gethin’s accident. You can also donate by leaving it at Ceiri garage.

Thanksgiving
Congratulations to the pupils of the school for their inspiring service, everybody was full of praise for their efforts., and of course thanks to the teachers and staff for all their hard work.
Drama Group
The next meeting will be on Sunday 11th November at 7:30 in the Community Centre. A play has been chosen and is in the process of being translated.

2012 Aelhaearn Eisteddfod

This year’s eisteddfod will take place in the Babell Community Centre on Saturday 24th November with an afternoon and evening session. This year the chair is given by the family of Bobi and Morfudd Jones, Isallt in memory of them

All Mrs Beti Hughes, Llechdara’s friends would like to wish her a speedy recovery following surgery for a new knee. I’m sure that she will soon be out and about again.

Exhibition
Saturday 21/7 at 2:30 the exhibition Saving Llanaelhaearn School will be opened by Carl Clowes in the Community Centre, it will be open untill 4:30 and then from Monday-Friday 6:00-8:00 for the rest of the week. Entry free but a donations box will be left by the door.

Tea to Celebreate The Urdd Eisteddfod 2012 Snowdonia and Surrounding Area
Thursday 31 May at Ganolfan Y Babell at 3.30 to 4.30 pm the Urdd Appeal Committee will be holding a little tea party for the kids to celebrate the arrival of the Eisteddfod. Tickets are £2.50 each and they will be for sale at the school gate from today onwards. If anybody would like to contribute anything towards the food for this then we would be very grateful. Thank you.

£258.11 was donated to the North Wales Air Ambulance in memory of Mrs Mair Jones, Gerallt.
Celebrations
This year it will be 40 years since the village of Llanaelhaearn fought and won the battle to keep the school open. Celebrations will take place during July.

Home Again
Good to hear that Elan Moelfre Fawr is on the way home after treatment at Alder Hay Hospital, Liverpool.
Death
It is sad to report the death of Mrs. Mair Jones, Gerallt she died on Saturday at Bryn Beryl Hospital and the funeral will be at 12:00 at the Church on Friday April 27 and then refreshments at the community center. Mair was born and bred in the village and was one of the Mill family.
New Baby
Congratulations to the family of 3 Ceiri Terrace on the birth of their baby son, a new brother for Ffion.
Pwllheli Triathlon
Recently some of the village took part in the Pwllheli Triathlon, namly Shaun Mitchell, Tan y Ceiri and a team from Ceiri Garage, Ifan (Cycling), Einir (running) and Louise (swimming). Congratulations to them.

The local Parent(Grandparent/Legal Guardian) and Toddler Group have resumed their Thursday morning meetings. they were busy with various activities before Easter and have been for a walk to see the lambs and horses, and had party with a special Easter cake. After the Whitsun break Gwenda will come from Language and Play to carry out activities with the children and their parents.

We wish well to the three members of the local branch Merched y Wawr who will be undergoing surgery in April, Ann, Annwen and Betty. We also wish a speedy recovery to Ann Roberts who has received treatment on her hand and also to Sali Evans.

The New Crossings
The surveyors were here yesterday and work on the crossings will commence as soon as the work of tarring the road has been done. The Council are waiting to hear from Welsh Water and BT before starting the re-surfacing work.
Cylch Ti a Fi Llanaelhaearn
The Cylch will be re-starting next Thursday (19 April) at 9.30am. New members are always WELCOME to join us. On Thursday 3 May we will be doing a sponsered walk to raise some money for the cylch – if you wish to sponsor us then you can pop in to Ceiri Garage where there will be a sponsor form, we are very grateful for every donation possible and would like to thank e…veryone beforehand for your support – as you all know everything costs to run now, so yearly we try to raise a bit of money to keep the cylch going.

School

The school are taking part in the Co-operative Food Project, for £3 you can buy a bag of vegetables,fruit or salad. Orders must be handed in by Thursday mornings with the money. The produce will be available for pick up on Fridays between 3:00 and 3:30. Come along support the pupils and eat healthily at the same time.

The good news this week is that the long awaited car park is now finished. Cars will be able to park and the pupils will be able to cross to school in safety.
